Dover Disney safely crossed the finish line with another solid ride in Ludlow Cycling Club's penultimate round of the time-trial league to ensure first place.
The weather was sunny and there was little breeze around the Ashford hilly circuit enabling some to gain fast times for the last visit this year to the two lap course. Dover Disney has been fighting for the lead in the league all season with Chris Lines and the two have exchanged places at the top on the way to the close of the seasons racing.
Another good result of 27 points puts his points total at 539 from 19 rounds, a position that cannot be caught with one round left to ride. Even with a win on the last hill climb up Whitcliffe on Tuesday, Chris Lines can only get within one point of Disney's total. However, second place is still up for grabs and Neal Deller, who is currently in third position, will be trying to take second place for himself, but needs at least a top three placing to see a chance of beating Chris Lines. With 26 points difference, Chris would have to drop below the top six finishers to allow Neal to catch him, so it will be a hard fought race.
With both of them racing this weekend, Neal in the Duo Normande time-trial in southern France, it will be a case of 'may the strongest legs win'.
This round was won by the Climb On Bikes rider Phil Mason, consistently one of the fastest riders again this season.
Fastest Ludlow rider was Phil Weaver, again one of the fastest riders but one who could not attend all of the rounds within the league due to other riding commitments.
