Newtown 2nd 85 ao Ludlow 2nd 86-3
AFTER an early scare with the batting, when they were 14-3 and chasing a target of 86, Ludlow came through in style at the Burway to beat Newtown by seven wickets.
They failed to close the nine-point gap on leaders Whitchurch in the reserve division of the Shropshire Premier League , however, as their arch rivals also won.
Simon Lane (4-22), James Collins (3-26) and Mark Garner (2-18) teamed up to bowl the visitors out for 85 in less than 30 overs.
The seconds looked to be in trouble when the first three batsmen were quickly despatched back to the pavilion.
This brought Rob Genner and Rupert Inglesant (22no) to the wicket.
They soon established themselves with Genner just having the time to notch his fourth half-century of the campaign.
