Corvedale 201-6 Bromfield 2nd 48 ao
ED Griffiths starred with both bat and ball as Corvedale won their local derby fixture at Bromfield in division 6 of the Shropshire County League by 153 runs.
He belted 91 runs batting at number four and then took six wickets as the home side was bundled out for just 48.
Craig Massie gave the Corvedale innings a steady start against some accurate bowling from Neil Crump (3-44 off 14 overs) and skipper Mark Siviter (3-54 off 18 overs). Batting with Paul Mantle (12) and an abnormally patient Ian Simmons (13) he took the score to 58-1 at the end of the 29th over. Griffiths (91) then joined Massie (52) in a partnership of over 100 which transformed the innings.
They finished on 201-6 at the end of their 45 overs.
The Bromfield reply was going along steadily until Andrew Barnfield, making a rare appearance, ran-out the dangerous Dave McClellan (11) going for a second run.
The bowling of Ross Mantle (3-22) and Griffiths (6-17) then took over to bowl out the home team in 13 lively overs.
