Wyrley Rangers 2, Tenbury United 0

TENBURY turned in a much better performance in midweek at table-topping Wyrley than they had at Wednesbury the previous Saturday, but after enjoying the better of the first half whilst conceding two goals, were unable to break down a well-organised defence after the break.

United started strongly and created a number of chances which they failed to convert.

They were made to pay for a hesitant piece of defending from player-manager Colin Powell midway through the half as the home side took the lead. There was an element of luck in the goal as the Rangers gained possession in midfield after the ball struck the referee with Tenbury going forward.

They extended the lead just before the break when a forward had a free header from a corner, after Byron Davies was deceived at the near-post. They huffed and puffed after the break but failed to break down a resolute defence.
