CHAMPION Ryeland at the society's flock book centenary show and sale fetched the record price of 1,080 guineas.
The ram from Richard Wear of Bristol sold to Narberth breeder D Lewis but it was agreed that the seller and buyer would have half shares in the champion.
The show and sale in Ludlow Market, conducted by Clive Roads of McCart-neys, saw some excellent prices.
Mr Wear's second-prize shearling sold to J Horter for transportation to France.
In the female section, the top price was 335 guineas for a ewe lamb from R and A Howell of Swansea, which sold to Mrs J Faulder of Ayrshire, Scotland. She was the day's largest buyer, purchasing 13 females to start a new flock.
