Wem Town 2 Clee Hill 1
THE HILL produced a spirited performance, but paid the penalty for a couple of lapses in defence as they went down by the odd goal in their Shropshire Premier County League fixture at Wem.
The home team capitalised on a slow start by Clee to open the scoring with a header from a free kick. This stung the visitors into action and Jamie Shingler equalised after Craig Tommey had struck the post during an earlier attack. Liam Edwards shot over the bar after reacting first to a loose ball.
After pushing forward during the third quarter, Nick Preece twice going close, the Hill suddenly found themselves with an uphill battle after conceding a soft goal from a corner. They threw caution to the wind, giving Paul Jones in their goal plenty of action on the break, but were unable to penetrate the home defence.
