SENIOR CITIZENS: Mrs Janet Poundford, presiding, announced that the date for the Christmas lunch had been set for December 10, at the Station Inn at Marshbrook, and more details would be given later.
Member Mrs Penny Hargrove, was welcomed as the speaker and gave a very detailed account of the way of life in Canada.
RAFFLE: Winners were Mrs Williams, Mrs Conliffe, Mrs Moseley, Mrs H Hones and Mr Ron Harper. Members were reminded that the next meeting would be held on Friday, September 10, at 2.30pm, and at the usual venue of the Silvester Horne Institute. Mrs Sue Bennett was to talk on Having Fun with Arthritis!. Visitors are always welcome.
PRAYERS FOR PEACE: Drop in at St Laurence's Church, between 10am and 4pm tomorrow (Friday), for this month's Prayers for Peace.
Specific prayer requests on this occasion are from the Anglican Church.
TREASURE HUNT: An open invitation goes out to everyone to join the treasure hunt at All Stretton on Sunday, starting from All Stretton Village Hall, at 2pm.
The hunt offers the choice of a hilly walk or a walk on the flat and finishes at Hall Meadows, at 4pm.
Participants may take their own drinks and some food to cook on the barbecue. Entrance is £1.
BREAST CANCER CARE: Two events will be held this week starting with an evening of South American wine tasting together with a promise auction and raffle, at All Stretton Village Hall on Saturday.
The tickets include wine tasting and cheese, and are available through Pam Allsop at the Health and Beauty Clinic or Little Houses in Churchway, and Paul Stephens at Chamberlaine and Stephens estate agents in the square. Details 01694 723699.
Next Monday there will be a coffee morning in Ashford House next to the Silvester Horne Institute, 11am-1pm admission £1.
TAI CHI: There is a chance to try out Taoist Tai Chi at a free introductory talk and demonstration at the parish centre, on Friday, September 10.
The morning is open to all abilities and ages as there will be no floor work involved.
Everyone taking part is advised to wear casual clothes and flat shoes, and a tea and coffee break will be arranged.

COMMUNITY BUS: A community bus will be available this autumn to people who do not have other transport in the Church Stretton and surrounding rural area under the SY6 postcode, and will operate for two or three days a week. Seats must be reserved by ringing Debbie John on 01743 253315.
MEGA BITE TREAT: At Mayfair Community Centre a free course is on offer to anyone who does not have GCSE English or Maths equivalent at an information day next Wednesday, from 10.30am-3pm.
It will be possible to find out how to improve in English and Maths and learn basic computer skills.
At the same time there will be free food and free drinks.

CHOIRS: The Much Wenlock Male Voice Choir will be in Rushbury Village Hall on Saturday, September 18, at 8pm.

FLOWER CLUB: Church Stretton and District Flower Club meets again after the summer break next Tuesday at 7.30pm, in the Silvester Horne Institute.
Mrs Kate Edwards will demonstrate I Had a Dream and members will be creating their own arrangements of Summer Dreaming.
SCHOOL NEWS: An enrolment and information session for the forthcoming evening courses, most of which will be starting on the week beginning September 20, will take place at Church Stretton School on the Friday, 4-6pm.
Saturday, September 18, is when the 1994 Church Stretton School leavers and their teachers are invited to a reunion at the school from 3-5pm.
Partners and children will also be welcome.
Light refreshment will be included in the £3 ticket, so take a bottle if you wish.

The end of the summer term saw the retirement of Dr Nick Deeley after more than 25 years at the school.
Former pupils will recall that Nick was not only one of the science teachers but also a leader on some of the school's expeditions to the uninhabited island of Mingulay, off the Scottish coast.
