SIX teenagers were arrested after a stabbing incident at the Minsterley show ground at the weekend. A seventh teenager was arrested next day.

The police, called there at 1.45am on Sunday morning, found three men injured.

One man, with "life threatening" injuries was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, where, after surgery, he was said to be "stable".

Another man had a leg injury, the third a cut on his lower back.

The incident occurred as stewards and committee members made final checks to ensure nobody was left at the venue after a dance.

Detectives questioned the six teenagers.

One was later bailed to return to Shrewsbury Police Station.

The other five were still being quizzed on Tuesday, after Shrewsbury magistrates granted the police a further 30 hours to question them.

The seventh teenager arrested was also being questioned.

Det Insp Rick Klair has appealed for witnesses. "Interviews and other inquiries will continue," he said.

"This was a very serious incident.

"We appeal to anyone who saw anything or who has any information to contact us.

"A large number of people were there and we urge them to come forward with whatever information they have."
