THE Compasses Inn in Corve Street, Ludlow, was cordoned off yesterday (Wednesday) while police forensic experts probed an assault at about midnight on Tuesday in which a man was seriously injured.
He was rushed to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and was said to be undergoing surgery yesterday.
Sgt Tony Mantle of Ludlow police said: "We are holding someone in custody."
Two other men were less seriously injured in the incident. The police have appealed for witnesses.
The entrance to the pub was cordoned off yesterday while forensic experts worked inside. Police also took photographs in Wood Yard, opposite the pub.
Police are asking anyone who saw the incident inside or outside the Compasses at about midnight to contact them either on 08457 444888 or anonymously on the Crime-stoppers number 0800 555111.
