Ludlow Castle Motor Club members Shaun Gardener and co-Driver Dave Brick were the outright winners of the Bill Gwynne Rallyschool & Motorsport Stages held in the Sweet Lamb complex last Saturday , reports Keith Gluyas.
The event was organised by Kidderminster Motor Car Club and attracted 65 entries from far across the country.
The event consisted of nine competitive stages over 50 miles and Shaun/Dave were lying second in their TNT Tyre Ludlow Mitsubishi Evo V throughout the day up to the start of the last stage.
Shaun and Dave's consistent performance paid off when the leader John Ingram suffered electrical problems on the last stage and they were able to take the lead from him by 4 seconds !
This is Shaun and Dave's second outright success this year , following on from their win on the Ludlow Castle Motor Club's Gravel Rally Sprint in January.
Shaun's great ambition is to win the Woodpecker Rally , the Ludlow based event organised by 60 & Worcester Motor Club.
This year's Woodpecker takes place on September 4 and who knows......this could be Shaun's hatrick of 2004 wins !
Other Ludlow Castle Motor Club members competing on the Bill Gwynne Rally had mixed fortunes.
Nigel Griffiths and Andrew Owens were out for a practice run in their new Greenergy Bio Fuels Subaru Impreza and finished third, taking this spot from Ian Joel by two seconds.
Father and son team , Mick and Mark Kinsey finished a fine 22nd from a starting position of 28 in their M & M Motorsports Talbot Sunbeam.
Simon Atkinson and Ben Nixon maintained their start position by finishing in the mid-thirties in the Mayoral Cider Talbot Sunbeam.
Not so lucky were Jim Jones and Steve Gould in the Overton Service Station Skoda Estelle.
Jim and Steve won their class but were excluded from the results after a technicality.
Ludlow Castle Motor Club will be holding another Autotest at Henley Hill Farm , Nr Ludlow on August Bank Holiday Monday , starting at 10.30 .a.m.
