Knighton-on-Teme 129 ao Barnards Green 126-8
KNIGHTON suffered their first defeat since May when they went down by two wickets at Barnards Green in Div-ision 5 of the Worcester-shire County League.
Knighton, thanks mainly to John Humphries (35), reached 61-1 on a slow damp wicket when they batted first after losing the toss. When he was out Tim Gasch (28no) got his head down but wickets fell at regular intervals at the other end. Tony Batt (13) was the other double figure scorer, and S Beavan took 5-31 as Knighton reached 129ao in the 44th over.
The Green appeared to be coasting to victory when their openers put on 58 for the first wicket. Tom Whistance took 3-12 to make a contest of it, and with four other bowlers taking a wicket apiece a glimmer of hope appeared at 126-8. The home team crept home in the 42nd over.
