Luctonians 14 pts Bradford and Bingley 16
LUCTONIANS hopes of a place in the quarter-finals of the Powergen Intermediate Cup, and a possible final at Twickenham were cruelly dashed by the Cup favourites from Yorkshire, who benefited from a last minute indiscretion to snatch victory.
In what proved an epic match enjoyed by a huge crowd, Luctonians ignored the form-book to rattle their prolific scoring visitors, who boasted three Tongan players with international experience, with a non-stop display of fire and aggression.
Lucs opened the scoring with a penalty from Will Parry, but the Bees hit back to take the lead with an unconverted try and a penalty, before Parry narrowed the interval gap to two points with a second penalty.
Brick touched down to nose Lucs in front but Bees levelled with another penalty.
A third penalty from Parry seemed to have given Lucs victory but an indiscreet word to the referee enabled the Bees to kick to the corner and grab a last second winning try.
