Wellington Amateurs 0 Craven Arms 0
CRAVEN Arms were pleased to bag a point in their Shropshire County Premier League match, away to top five opponents, Wellington Amateurs.
Craven lost the toss and were asked to play down the sloping pitch for the first half. Using the slope to their advantage they were decidedly the better team for the first half and had the lions share of the chances.
Wellington struggled to contain the aerial abilities of Craven Arms striker, Stuart Owens. The big man used his height to get his head on to corners, crosses and free kicks, but not managing to get the ball in the back of the net.
The second half saw Craven facing an uphill struggle as the pitch's incline was against them.
Wellington came out strongly, but the Arms defended stoutly with a battling performance.
Craven Arms spokesman Mike Seabourn said> "we were very happy to get an away point to a team challenging for promotion."
