A PHRASE I used in my last letter, with regards to the junction between Boraston Drive and Boraston Lane as the final touches were being completed prior to opening, was: "It beggars belief".
I casually commented to one of my neighbours in jest: "I wonder how long it will be before they start digging it up." Well, I am horrified to report the answer is six weeks.
On January 9 they dug up the pavement outside my house, which I had been waiting two years to have properly surfaced, to put up a pole for the speed limit sign.
I obviously have no objection to the sign but why was the pole not put up prior to completion of the site?
There will of course be some lame excuse but, quite frankly, this is inexcusable and no excuse is acceptable.
I would also appeal to the people responsible to explain why it appears, by the size of the poles, that it is necessary to have signs which will be visible from Palmer's Meadow?
Finally, I would like to thank everyone for the positive response I have received since my last letter, even though it has made no difference.
I have had no contact from local authorities, councillors etc, who are quick enough to request our vote, and money but are strangely unobtainable when trying to find out information.
I thought we were cutting down on bureaucracy but, now, it seems buck passing and automated telephone systems are the order of the day.
