STOP smoking, lose weight, take up voluntary work - these are the usual new year resolutions.

But one south Shropshire museum keeper has an odd ambition - she wants to find her 100th shop dummy.

Stella Mitchell, at the Museum of Lost Content, in Craven Arms, has 97 mannequins wearing 20th century costumes and posed in various tableaux within the museum

To her great delight Stella found two more for her collection during the festive holiday.

"This was at a car boot sale in Sussex," she said.

"They are both seated, which is most unusual.

"The male one has his arms folded and this makes it very difficult to dress.

"The lady is in a 1971 Laura Ashley full-length dress, he's wearing a 1970s pinstripe suit."

Brand new shop dummies retail for about £1,000 each and Stella finds hers mainly at shop closures.

They are very heavy and made from unbreakable material.

Contrary to popular opinion, they are not flexible and once set in a pose have to remain that way."

"I really want now to go for the 100," said Stella.

"If anyone can help then we would be awfully grateful."
