LUDLOW members ensured that the festive golf season was extended when 96 members took part in a rearranged Christmas Cracker competition, the original event having been postponed because of bad weather.
Although faced with blustery conditions and the occasional wintry squalls, some excellent scores were recorded with Simon Jones and John Mifflin putting together a splendid 44 stableford points in the better-ball pairs format.
This put them three points clear of runners-up Stan and Steve Round, with Neil Smith and Anna Norton a further point behind taking third spot on a card countback from David Pearce and Gordon Hall.
Club captain David Ball was delighted with the turn-out for the 'late Christmas' event, and the winners were equally delighted to restock their spirits after probably exhausting them during the Christmas festivities.
