I WRITE with regard to district councillor George Price, whose comments are frequently recorded in your newspaper.
At small town council or parish council level party politics do not enter into things and I have always found people to be happy with this.
At district level, however, party animal myself, this is something I understand.
I am, however, at a loss to know where Councillor Price stands as a district councillor.
Prior to the last election in May, he was a Liberal Democrat Councillor.
On May 1, he stood as a 'Non-political Independent candidate' (this a quote from his election address), and was duly elected.
He then, I understand, became deputy leader of the Independent Group on Malvern Hills District Council. However when he filled in his declaration of interests document for Tenbury Town Council, (something all councillors have to do), he then wrote in "as before."
This means he is a Liberal Democrat because that is what the document prior to May 1, said he was, and he was without doubt a Liberal Democrat.
What is he now? You may well ask, (perhaps). He also declares in his declaration that he is "trustee, Lodge St. Michael Charity". Whatever is that?
These documents are open to public scrutiny and are kept in Tenbury by the town clerk. Anyone has the right to see them.
My comment with regard to coun Price is this. I trust when he is "speaking up for Tenbury", he does it with much greater openness and clarity than he appears to do with regard to his political allegiances and his charity memberships.
With regard to myself, I am vice-chair, Tenbury and Rock Labour Party branch, chair of Leominster Constituency Labour Party, and a member of Tenbury Town Council.
My other interests are recorded in the correct manner and can be clearly seen in my declaration. I wish to make it clear however that I write this as an individual and any views expressed are purely my own, for myself.

Bromyard Road,
Tenbury Wells.
