Reality 1 Ludlow Town Reserves 3
ASSISTANT manager Mick Wells made an unexpected comeback after a two-year absence when injury hit Ludlow lost regular goalkeeper Dominic Leech at short notice. However the scratch team did well to beat Worcester-based Real-ity and maintain their challenge for West Midlands League Division1 South honours.
The visitors were boosted by an early goal from Howard Shearing who showed great awareness to seize on a mistake by the home goalkeeper in trying to stop Andrew Mowen's through ball, collecting the loose ball and steering it into an empty net.
Reality came back to level before the break when Ludlow failed to cut out a cross that was headed home at the back post.
Ludlow seized the initiative in the 75th minute when a good build-up between Darren Jennings and Shearing set up Nicky Breeze. His shot was only half-cleared but the rebound fell kindly to Nicky Stocker who coolly slotted home to regain the lead.
With time running out Ludlow made sure of the points when Simon Bull's 25 yard drive sailed through the keepers grasp into the bottom corner.
