LUDLOW Town lost both their scheduled Midland Alliance and West Midlands League Division 1 South Saturday fixtures when the referee ruled that the new Coors Stadium pitches were unfit following heavy rain.
Club chairman Peter Gwilliam confirmed that the referee had made the decision after a mid-morning inspection when there was standing water on the pitches following heavy overnight rain.
Commenting on the postponement of the matches, Gwilliam said: "Although it was disappointing we are well up with our matches in both leagues and provided that the weather improves there will be no fixture backlog.
"In fact, we have played more than 140 games on the four pitches since we opened and the newly sown sward is standing up well."
