LUCTONIANS kept their hopes of a top three finish in the Midlands One with a narrow, but exiting win in a thrilling match at Mortimer Park, and thus gaining revenge for their defeat at Leicester earlier in the season.
The visitors dominated the early exchanges but it was Luctonians went close through wingers Ryan Henshaw and Andy Garrod.
Leicester took the lead with a converted try from flanker Rudkin, but Luctonians levelled when a slick passing movement put Garrod over in the corner, Wheadon landing a fine conversion.
Soon after the restart Leicester regained the lead with an unconverted try but Luctonians responding with an excellent Wheadon try, adding the conversion himself.
Luctonians extended their lead with a Wheadon penalty but the visitors agin got back on terms with another unconverted try.
