SO THE publicity seeking, former Tenbury Town councillor, Mrs Margaret Austin, wants to be left alone by the people who used her photograph to publicise their Christmas Eve disco.
Can this be the same woman who, even before her appearance on Kilroy, wherein she announced her virginal state to the world, was known as "Fish and Chips", because she was never out of the paper?
Surely this can't be the same person who was the subject of a magazine photo shoot: or the same lady whom my brother, who lives 'down under', saw on Australian TV: or the authoress who, not so long ago, regaled us with a book of her poems, or the contestant who's appearance on the Weakest Link is eagerly awaited by some people (not the writer, you understand).
A comparison with the ridiculous posturing of Catharine Zeta Jones following the unauthorised use of photographs of her wedding would be the obvious one to make, were it not so flattering to Mrs Austin.
If you are going to set yourself up as a local celebrity (and that's what you have tried to do, Margaret) then you've got to take the rough with the smooth.
Many of us had not seen the poster, most of us would have taken no notice had we done so; however I, for one, will be looking out for it now.
One final point, Sgt Sean Kent told the Advertiser that the photographer's actions were not unlawful; but went on to comment on "moral responsibility". May I suggest that when the local police have got the law under control, and have been seen to do something about the increasing amount of graffiti, the many mindless acts of vandalism, the proliferation of sexual acts between, or involving minors and the ever present incidence of theft (petty or otherwise) then it will be time for them to start pontificating on moral responsibility, not before.
