IT is worth considering a trip to Malvern on December 12 to catch the winner of the 2003 Leeds International Piano Competition.
Antti Siirala will play Chopin's Piano Concerto no 1 in E minor with the English Symphony Orchestra. His CV is already glistening with awards. As well as winning the Gold Medal at Leeds, he also won the votes of the audiences who were in the concert hall or who listened to BBC Radio 3 or watched the competition on BBC Four.
He has already won four other major competitions. The concert, which begins at 7.30pm at The Forum in the Malvern Theatres, includes three other Romantic favourites. Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture and String Symphony no 10 appear with Schumann's Rhenish Symphony.
