A SERVICE first celebrated in the 13th century will be taking place again next Sunday, when 15-year-old Liam Dunachie, from Ludlow, is installed as Hereford's latest Boy Bishop.
Former head chorister Liam retired from Hereford Cathedral Choir last August after the Three Choirs Festival.
Liam's term of office lasts until the Cathedral's carol service on December 23.
"Liam was the obvious candidate for election," said Canon Andrew Piper, Precentor of Hereford Cathedral, "because he has exercised leadership and authority with gentleness and humility."
Liam, who lives in Corve Street and is following in the footsteps of father Steve, is becoming an accomplished musician. He plays violin, piano and church organ.
"Yes, it is a great honour to be chosen as Boy Bishop," he said. "The climax of this will be on Sunday when I preach my sermon. At the moment my subject looks like being my view of God when I was five, then 10 and now as a 15-year-old."
In his spare time, something he has little of at the moment, Liam enjoys surfing the net, rowing at Hereford and music.
Liam's mum, Penny Dunachie, said she and her husband were both thrilled with the honour bestowed on him.
