LUDLOW'S Hargrove teams kept alive their hopes of a unique double when both the A and B teams produced superb second leg performances to book their places in the quarter-finals of the Shropshire and Herefordshire Hargrove Trophy and Hargrove Plate competitions respectively.
The A team trailed 2-1 after the away leg against neighbours Church Stretton A but played superb golf to beat them 2- at home to book a quarter-final tie against Herefordshire A.
Neil Smith and Gary Mowen, and Rob Fish and club captain Nigel Griffiths won the opening matches, and Richard Rogers and Chris Roberts got the all-important half to clinch victory.
The B team were in a similar position after going down 2-1 away from home against Hill Valley B in the second round of the Plate competition, open to first round losers, but they also snatched victory with a 2- triumph in the return home leg.
Ian Cade and 13-year-old Tom Lowery halved the first match, with Peter Monk and Will Evans, and Alan Turner and Tom Smith winning the other matches and booking a meeting against Leominster in the quarter-finals.
