YOU report that the police are recruiting members of the public to identity speeding drivers. What a con! The speeders will be sent letters, which of course, they will ignore.
Speeding crime is an epidemic, and the technology exists with which to deal with it - hidden cameras set at the limit (not 20% plus, above it). Result - penalty points and loss of licence.
Traffic law enforcement is the most important police task (the number of "accidental" deaths far exceeds the number of murders) yet they go to great lengths to avoid doing it.
I remember some years ago writing to the police at Ludlow urging enforcement of a 30mph speed limit in road works on the A49. In their reply, the police accused me of 'having a bee in my bonnet" about speed limit enforcement!
With 'friends' like these, law-abiding drivers hardly need enemies.
