Boldmere 1 Ludlow Town 1
AFTER going in one goal down at the interval, Darryl Smith netted the equaliser fifteen minutes from time to stretch Town's recent good run to only one defeat in their last ten games in the Midland Alliance.
Ludlow enjoyed plenty of possession and created enough chances to have taken all three points, but on reflection, on an unusual pitch with a severe slope from side to side, and against disciplined hard-working opponents, a draw was a good result.
Town enjoyed the better of the early exchanges but in-spite of Chris Busby grazing the post, they failed to capitalise on their confident start. Inspired by Tim Gould the home team started to push forward.
Both defences were stretched before the home team made the breakthrough in the 25th minute. Martin Poole decided to punch clear a regulation Tom Lane cross and when the ball fell to Dan Bromley just six yards out he neatly tucked it away.
Ludlow responded well but after having a penalty appeal turned down, they saw a Busby lob go agonisingly over the bar and then finally home keeper Matt Knight saved from Andy Jones. They continued to push forward after the break but Knight made another fine save to deny Jones after a fine flowing movement.
This stung the home team into action, but after Poole had made a stunning save to deny Lane, Smith snatched the equaliser. He latched onto a cross from Tim Jackson, showed nice control and slotted the ball past Knight.
Town pushed forward for a winner but the closest they came was in added time when another penalty appeal for an foul on Busby fell on deaf ears.
