SIX years ago when the campaign against a Waste Site in Craven Arms was raging, the committee conducting it predicted that once installed there would be rats. Well! They have arrived and in such numbers the Pest Control Services have had to be called in.
The nearest houses are 400 yards away. A few, in Long Lane, are even nearer.
There have never been rats in this area of Craven Arms before. If a house becomes infested what are the legal rights of the inhabitants? Can they sue the county council or demand a reduction in council tax? Who has to pay the Pest Control Services when the house owner has to call them in? If a factory caused such a nuisance the company would be liable, is the county equally so?
Tom Freeman-Keel,
Craven Arms.
