Football: Ludlow Town 1 Rushall Olympic 1

ANDY Blakeley fired a second-half equaliser as Ludlow battled hard to come back and share the points in this Mid-land Alliance mid-table clash at the Coors Stadium.

Ludlow made a bright start and but for some top class goalkeeping from Rushall's Danny Watson and good defending they may have been well clear after only 15 minutes.

Power drive

Hard-working midfielder Blakeley put Shaun Humphries through only for the striker to be denied by a superb late tackle.

Minutes later Humphries and Darren Leonard combined to give Darryl Smith a chance but his header flew inches wide, and this was quickly followed by a power drive from Blakeley which Watson did well to hold.

Ludlow continued to dominate and headers from Andy Jones and Smith were both foiled by excellent Watson saves.

As often happens in football the visitors scored with their first real attack, Danny Coates breaking quickly to cross for Kirk Maragh to fire home.

Town hit back and the dangerous Tim Jackson produced a sharp volley to draw yet another brilliant save from the inspired Watson.

Rushall came back into the game, but in spite of a couple of excellent build-ups and good attempts from Jones and Blakeley, Town changed ends a goal adrift.

On the restart, Ludlow immediately pressed for an equaliser and their persistence was finally rewarded with Blakeley supporting yet another attack to fire home a lay-off from Rob Bruce.

Ludlow pressed for a winner but had to settle for a share of the points.
