SOCIAL and extra curriculum activities are just as important as league tables at Ludlow College, principal Ann Brown told parents and students at last week's presentation evening.
"We aim to offer our students a richness of experience beyond the classroom, which develops the social and personal skills necessary to enjoy a work-life balance later in life," she said.
The same theme was emphasised by this year's special guest, TV producer Mike Ibeji, whose latest project Weapons That Made Britain is coming soon on Channel 4.
For the third successive year in a row, A-level successes placed Ludlow College in the top 10 per cent of sixth form colleges.
"In simple terms this means that at least 20 per cent of our students have achieved a grade higher than could have been expected," said the principal.
Meanwhile, Geoffrey Sharr-att, head teacher at Wigmore High School, congratulated his students on GCSE results that won it a place in the top 50 highest performing of the nation's high schools for 11 to 16-year-olds.
Pupils also raised £1,879 for charity, with £703 on Red Nose Day. They also raised £593 for two school funds.
"As a school we are incredibly fortunate that the great majority of our pupils are friendly, hard working, enthusiastic, willing to have a go and aim high," Mr Sharratt said.
