RHYTHM and colour is set to explode on to the entertainment scene in south Shropshire with the arrival of a top live music and dance group.
Known as J2RnB, the group, at Ludlow Assembly Rooms tonight, is expert at charting the evolution of black dance styles, progressing through Latin, hip hop, soul and RnB, all with the help of vibrant live music by saxophonist James Squire.
Arts Alive and Ludlow Assembly Rooms, with special funding from the Arts Council, have teamed up to bring RJC to the area. They will also be touring schools, youth dance groups and village venues.
There will also be an open dance workshop for anyone aged over 12 at The Sylvester Horne Institute, Church Stretton, on Saturday at 10am. Booking is essential on 01694 723378
Sian Allen, of Arts Alive, said: "Contemporary dance sometimes gets the same reaction as contemporary art -- people think they won't understand it and don't give it a go.
"RJC will give you a show to remember, great dancing, live music and plenty of ' wow' factor. Powerful, colourful, accessible and athletic, not to mention trendy, this is contemporary dance to really enjoy."
