CLEOBURY Mortimer golfer Kim Simm (pictured left) could only finish in a tie for eighth place in final of the prestigious Health Percep-tion Ladies' Championship, at the renowned Wentworth course, but thoroughly enjoyed her day.

She said, "It was an incredibly full and exciting day from the televised individual media interviews and being filmed throughout the round, to being watched by the president, chairman and chief executive of the Ladies Golf Union, David Wilkie, and various other involved parties.

"The course was in magnificent condition, as you would expect, with super fast but true greens which were a delight to putt on."

Midland final

Simm, who earned her place in the final when she won the Midland final at Enville, played with the eventual winner, Heather Neale of Cowes Golf Club, but could only muster 32 stableford points, some seven less than her playing partner.

"After a daunting start, being filmed on the first tee and watched by all the dignitaries", added Simm, "I pulled my game together and after 10 holes was lying in third place. However I found two exceptionally deep bunkers on the 11th and 12th holes and failed to score.

However I completed the course well and was delighted to finish the difficult par-five 18th hole, watched by a sizeable audience, with a gross five."

The memorable day finished with a champagne reception and a lavish gala dinner where Wilkie and England Rugby player Lawrence Dallaglio presented the prizes."
