SOUTH Shropshire Sprint Triathlon attracted 213 athletes from all over the country for the seventh annual meeting.
The demanding event consisted of a 400 metre swim in the pool at the South Shropshire Leisure Centre, a 26 kilometre cycle ride through part of the town and local country roads, and then a 6.25 kilometre run along an out-and-back course alongside the A49.
All athletes enjoyed the spirit of the occasion with Paul Rogers of the Black Country Tri Club winning the Open Event in a time of 1:12:16, with Kevin Nash the best local finisher in 11th place with a time of 1:18:38.
The first lady home was Julie Moore of the Black Country Tri Club in a time of 1:22:46, and the best local finisher in the ladies event was Louise Baker who finished 87th in 1:32:18.
