Tenbury 23 pts Dudley Wasps 3
TENBURY showed a lot of promise as they bagged their first North Midlands Two victory of the season.
Both teams took a while to settle down but Tenbury started to exert pressure and forced the visitors to concede a penalty for not releasing the ball, centre Andy Yeomans opening their account with a nicely struck penalty.
Powerful centre Darren Kite found himself playing at number eight and, after the forwards had established an attacking position with a couple of strong phases of play, he popped up in his former position to crash over under the posts wit Yeomans converting.
Second penalty
Tenbury continued to control matters and Yeomans added a second penalty to give Tenbury a 13-point advantage at the break.
Dudley rallied at the restart and took play into the home 22 metre area where Tenbury were guilty of handling on the ground, the visitors landing the penalty.
That was as close as Dudley got as Tenbury responded to bag their second try, flanker Tom Spilsbury, making a welcome return from injury, drove off the back of the lineout and breached the visiting defence before sending fellow flanker Andy Black over for an unconverted try.
With the result beyond doubt Tenbury produced an excellent finishing flourish which saw skipper Steve Price sprint 40 metres for the final unconverted try after Yeomans and Kite had opened up the Dudley defence.
