LUDLOW finally broke their home ground winning hoodoo to emerge as comfortable winners from this entertaining FA Vase Second Round Qualifier and book an away draw in the first round proper against Nottingham-based Eastwood Town.
The visitors made an edgy start and Ludlow immediately established superiority with Gareth Horler, Darren Leonard, Will Hughes and Darryl Smith all missing half chances to open the scoring.
Tim Jackson was in inspired form and constantly asked questions of the Rolls Royce defence. He made a superb break through the middle and was unfortunate to see his powerful drive whistle past the post.
Minutes later he again tormented the visitors and was only denied when their goalkeeper made an excellent save to tip Jackson's half-volley for a corner.
Ludlow's persistent pressure finally paid off with Hughes leaving a trail of would-be tacklers in his wake before slipping the ball to the supporting Jackson who drove home the opening goal.
Town went looking for a second goal but a series of good saves, the lack of a good final touch and the woodwork denied them.
It was much the same after the break with Jackson continuing to tease the visitors and almost hit the target with a sharp overhead which produced a great save.
Nine minutes into the second half Rolls Royce conceded a second goal when a defender tried to play a back pass to his goalkeeper under severe pressure and only managed to turn the ball into his own goal.
