SAFER schooldays are ahead for Onibury children thanks to plans for new signs designed to slow down traffic on roads leading to Onny School.
A meeting of about 16 village representatives on Monday night heard Shropshire County Council Principal Traffic Engineer Roger Drummond outline a school safety zone scheme to be introduced in March next year.
The scheme will include signs at Norton lane and, at the opposite end of the village, signs at the junction.
There will be a weclome to Onibury sign at the approach the village, a "red carpet" outside the school and more road colouring off the A49.
County councillor for the area Claude Bodenham said the plans were the culmination of many years of pressing for safety improvements.
