Tenbury United 2 Malvern Town Reserves 2
ALTHOUGH Tenbury twice came from behind to finally share the points with Malvern Town in this competitive West Midlands League Division 1 South clash, it was a game they should have won.
Team Manager Colin Powell was disappointed with the draw and said, "Having conceded a soft goal in the first minute we created more chances than Malvern, but as last week, we let ourselves down with poor finishing."
From the kick-off Malvern hoisted a long ball over the top of the home defence. As the Tenbury defenders stopped assuming the ball was going out, a Malvern attacker chased through and hooked the ball back from what appeared to be over the line, cut inside and gave Byron Davies no chance.
Stung by this early reverse Tenbury settled down to play some good football and eventually levelled on the half-hour when Matt Kurkus and George Pearson combined well down the right for Pearson to swing over a deep cross to the far post where the unmarked Ryan Morris side-footed home.
Tenbury again created several half-chances after the break but went behind for a second time when indecision at the back in clearing a ball in the box gave Malvern the opportunity to drill the ball home from close range. Tenbury did not drop their heads and Morris made a fine run down the left flank to cross from the by-line to Brett McIntosh who calmly fired in the equaliser.
With time running out Malvern looked to have grabbed a winner, but Davies saved Tenbury with a point blank block.
