Ross United Services 2 Woofferton 4

WOOFFERTON'S long journey to Ross proved worthwhile as they came away with a deserved victory to book their place in the second round of the Herefordshire FA Charity Bowl, all six goals coming in an eventful second half and extra time.

Both sides were guilty of poor finishing in the first half with Woofferton going close on two occasions.

Ross took the lead soon after the break when Woofferton failed to clear a corner and the home striker volleyed in from 12 yards. Minutes later Woofferton were back on terms when Neil Crump rolled the ball home after Kevin Phasey clashed with the keeper as both went for a through ball.

Ross regained the lead when their striker picked up a poor goal-kick from Dave Cooper to run through and score.

It looked all over for Woofferton when Julian Marsh was dismissed for an off-the-ball incident, but the depleted visitors rallied when Crump hooked home a cross from Mark Desborough to force extra time.

The gallant 10 men rose to the challenge in a stamina sapping extra time and clinched victory with goals from substitute Justin Wheatley and Jamie Marsh.
