Bewdley Town 3 Ludlow Town Reserves 0
LUDLOW Reserves were left to rue early missed chances as they crashed to their first West Midlands League Division 1 South reverse of the season when they visited fellow title challengers Bewdley Town.
Ludlow started well and almost took a second minute lead when Stuart Owens robbed a home defender near the corner and cut inside only to see his deft curling shot rebound to safety off the bar.
Minutes later Owens almost scored again when Andrew Mowens headed down a cross only for Owens shot to be cleared off the line.
Bewdley rode their luck and came back to take an interval lead when a long range shot took a deflection to deceive the Ludlow goalkeeper.
The hosts extended their lead after the restart when a long throw caught Ludlow napping with the Bewdley striker nipping in to register goal number two.
Minutes later Bewdley put the result beyond doubt when they broke away to bad a third goal with a swift counter-attack as Ludlow tried to push up.
Manager Chris Key reflected on the game and indicated that he may well make changes to the team.
"We played well in the first half but were unable to find that final pass after stretching the Bewdley defence on several occasions," said Key.
"However our second half performance was not acceptable and a number of players should ask themselves if they are up to the job."
