Ludlow 64 Madeley 66-2
LUDLOW completed their Proactive Shrop-shire Premier League season on a low note when they crashed to their heaviest defeat of the season at Madeley.
Madeley won the toss and asked Ludlow to bat, a decision that proved to be a good call as Ludlow, whose recent matches have been characterised by lack lustre batting performances, again showed a lack of good technique and application.
The Madeley opening attack soon got amongst the wickets with Tim Owen bowling unchanged from one end and bagging 7-23 off 13 overs as Ludlow capitulated to 64 all out in only 26 overs.
Only Willie Moore offered any resistance with a gritty 28 not out, the other 10 batsmen failing to reach double figures and five returning to the pavilion without troubling the scorers.
Faced with such a meagre total the only slim chance that Ludlow had was to take early wickets and induce a similar collapse.
Pete Ezard obliged with two quick wickets but that was all Ludlow had to offer as the third wicket pair blasted the required runs in 11.1 overs to cruise to an eight wicket win.
Since Australian Shannon Tubb returned home Ludlow have struggled and it is important that they regroup, take stock and rebuild for next season.
