Tenbury 12 pts Upton-on-Severn 22

TENBURY lost interest in this year's Powergen Junior Cup when visitors Upton produced a fine team performance to earn a thoroughly deserved victory.

Upton got off to a flying start when their well drilled forwards produced a strong, driving maul to drive flanker Mark Symington over for the opening unconverted try after just seven minutes.

The visiting pack continued to get the better of the forward exchanges and extended their lead when Paul Pickering was driven over for a second unconverted try.

Tenbury upped their game and came bouncing back to take an interval lead. Fly-half Andy Yeomans slipped an inside pass to Steve Price who drew the cover before putting Yeomans over near the posts, adding the conversion himself.

Minutes later Tenbury bagged a second try when they moved the ball swiftly across the backs to create an overlap for winger Lucas Tytel to touch down in the corner for an unconverted try.

The break came at the wrong time for Tenbury who never really regained the momentum on the restart. They created a promising move down the flank only for play to stop because of an injury, and that was the start of an Upton revival.

A well-practised line-out drill saw visiting prop Ben Leeke take the tap down to be driven over and regain the lead for Upton, Heeley adding the conversion.

They put the result out of reach when a long pass and a miss move in the backs released winger Neil to score.
