Bridgnorth Town 1 Ludlow Town 1
A 'wonder'goal from fully 35 yards out denied Ludlow Town a much-needed victory in their Midland Alliance League game away at Bridgnorth Town on Tuesday night.
Having recovered from their 3-0 FA Cup Preliminary Round defeat at Mickleover on Saturday, where the home team were flattered by the scoreline, Ludlow could have scored in the first minute when, having created a clear opening, Gareth Horler was only denied by a fine save from the home keeper.
Equaliser
However, Ludlow did take the lead on 15 minutes and it was Horler who scored. Will Hughes made progress down the right hand side and drilled a low cross in for Horler to nip between defenders to slide the ball home from six yards.
Bridgnorth's equaliser came on 35 minutes when Paul Line was able to get clear of Horler, turn and fire home an unstoppable shot from fully 35 yards. The keep was helpless.
In the second half, Daryl Smith, Tim Jackson and Will Hughes all created chances but were unable to convert the opportunities and, with the game heading for a draw, Darren Leonard hit the bar after creating a good opening for himself.
