A VOTE against the Eco-business Park may lead to an increase in the South Shropshire District Council's portion of the County Council tax bill.
District council leader Heather Kidd has clarified earlier comments she had made to the Ludlow Advertiser. She said it would not mean a 20 per cent rise in the overall Council Tax rate for Shropshire next year. South Shropshire's present share is £166 a year in Band D.
If the Eco-business Park proposal is voted down, a question will arise over more than £98,000 that has already been spent.
In time, South Shropshire District Council would have to decide whether all or part should be met by a cut in spending or by seeking a tax increase.
