Shifnal Town 0 Ludlow Rovers 2
FORMER Ludlow Rovers player Mark Pound, now captain of Shifnal, arranged a pre-season friendly for his former club and he fielded a fair sprinkling of the home first team squad to provide an excellent work out for both clubs.
Rovers fielded a couple of new signings and they started brightly to make all the early running with Shifnal restricted to a single long range shot easily dealt with by visiting goalkeeper Ben Austin.
After a score-less first half Rovers made several changes. This livened up their attack and new centre back Jack Davies opened the scoring when he headed home a Kevin Phasey cross. Shifnal came back but the Rovers defence held firm. Substitute John Tovey created the second goal when he made a fine solo run before being cut down by Pound on the edge of the box.
Pound received his marching orders and Julian Marsh stepped up to curl the resultant free kick into the top corner to secure victory.
