Ludlow 163-5 Broseley 164-7

SLOPPY fielding and lack-lustre batting saw Ludlow slip to a second successive Proactive Shropshire Premier League defeat, writes Glyn Wictome.

After winning the toss and electing to bat Ludlow never really got going on a wicket of inconsistent bounce which offered help to the seamers.

Kinsey Hern (12) and Ross Wharton made a watchful start until Hern was clean bowled, and then Genner joined Wharton to make a fluent 17 until he also departed.

Mike Payne (21) also got into his stride and looked set for a good score until he also perished.

The Ludlow innings stagnated, and although Wharton made a patient 54 it was left to Willie Moore (19) to give the innings some impetus and lift Ludlow to a competitive total.

Steve Hood and Pete Milner bagged a few quick wickets but the dangerous Mehboob led the home charge with some dazzling shots. Milner grabbed another couple of wickets to give Ludlow hopes of an unlikely victory, and when Hood trapped Mehboob (54) and Jones in successive balls they were scenting a win.

However. Murdoch (26) was dropped, and he joined Ahmed (31) and Bott (21no) to see Broseley to victory.
