LUDLOW Town fans can certainly have no complaints about the entertainment value of their pre-season programme after Hereford's goal blitz at the Coors Stadium.
The Bulls' 'baker's dozen' took the total scored by Ludlow's two Nationwide Conference neighbours to 20 after Shrewsbury Town's seven just two days previously.
But on Thursday, at least, Shaun Humphrey had the satisfaction of being the first Ludlow Town player to find the net at the Coors.
Darren Leonard, though, will be less pleased to have found his name on the score-sheet. The tall centre-back rounded off Hereford's scoring a minute from time when he inadvertently guided a Paul Parry cross past Martin Poole.
Hereford certainly turned on the style for the ground's official opening and director of football Graham Turner was highly impressed with the new development.
"It's a magnificent facility," he said. "The club have done tremendously well for themselves."
Star of the show on Thursday was Hereford triallist Danny Bertram who netted four times in the first 10 minutes to celebrate agreeing terms with United.
Competent
Former Shrewsbury midfielder Dean Craven also did his prospects of landing a contract no harm at all with two second-half goals and a generally competent display on the left.
But the man to catch the eye in the early stages was Bertram who, after blasting home the opener in the second minute, used his considerable pace to race on to perceptive passes from Parry (twice) and Craven to net in the sixth, eighth and 10th minutes.
After Darryl Smith set up Humphrey to pull a goal back in the 14th minute, Bertram turned provider with a teasing cross which Jamie Pitman despatched to make it 5-1 before himself racing on to Jordan King's 38th minute pass to rack up the half dozen.
Although Humphrey forced a fine save from Hereford's Matt Baker early in the second period, the Bulls again had by far the better of the action after the break.
Parry's good work set up goals for Michael Rose and Danny Williams after 57and 67 minutes respectively.
Then Craven clipped in a Williams cross for number nine on 72 minutes and United were in double figures a minute later when Poole could only push out a Williams shot to King who crashed home the rebound off the crossbar.
After Craven and Williams had added their own personal seconds in the 77th and 85th minutes respectively, the last word went to the unfortunate Leonard.
