SHROPSHIRE and Herefordshire golf team made their best ever start to the Midland League when they beat Worcestershire 9-6 at Kidderminster to record their third victory in three starts.
Perennial strugglers in the competition they have know given themselves their best ever chance of clinching their first ever Midland title after convincing victories over Warwickshire and Derbyshire, and now Worcestershire.
Darren Richards (Kington), last year's Shropshire Open Champion returned to the team and teamed up with Herefordshire colleague Jonathan Devereux to gain a half in the morning foursomes and then win his singles in the afternoon.
Devereux also contributed to the victory with another half in his afternoon singles.
