A 20-year-old Ludlow man, due to be sentenced for a series of offences at Shrewsbury Crown Court, has been warned by a judge that he faces a lengthy jail term.

Last week, Anthony Matthew Moffatt of The Wildings, Riddings Roads, Ludlow, admitted a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm on Anthony Gilchrist.

The attack on 34-year-old Mr Gilchrist took place on February 24.

On Monday, Moffatt pleaded guilty to five more charges, all of them occurring on September 13 last year.

They included aggravated vehicle taking, knowing that a Metro car had been taken without the owner's consent, driving it when an accident occurred in which damage was caused.

Moffat further admitted burglary of a house in Lilac Grove, Ludlow, together with stealing a video, keys and cash; theft of a concrete plinth belonging to Mandy Bickley; stealing clothing in Bridgnorth; and possessing a class B drug - cannabis.

Judge Desmond Perrett, QC, told the court that Moffatt would be sentenced in three weeks' time and in the meantime would be remanded in custody.
