A LURCHER called Gwyn is helping teach good habits on Ludlow's highways and byways.
As town councillor Terry Burgoyne's best friend, she never goes out without one or two 'doggy' bags, and the pair hope other pet owners will soon follow suit.
Mr Burgoyne took up an idea from new town clerk Paul Russell to encourage dog owners to clear up their pet's mess as they go along.
Now the council has bought 4,000 bio-degradable Scoop the Poop bags, free to any dog owner who calls in for them at the Buttercross.
Mr Burgoyne (right) said: "I am concerned about keeping Sandpits Road clear of dog mess because so many school children use the road." Photo: Derek Foster.
