Knighton-on-Teme 178-7 Dales 179-8
KNIGHTON narrowly lost at Leominster based Dales in a 40-over friendly on Sunday. The home team started the final over requiring four to win and managed to scramble the runs with two wickets in hand.
Knighton won the toss and the backbone of their innings was provided by John Dolphin (51) and Matt James (42). Coming together at 36-2, and with both openers out, they added 95 for the third wicket to leave the visitors well placed at 129-3.
Knighton conceded wickets in the latter stages as they chased quick runs. Ian Jones (2-33) was the pick of the Dales overs.
Chris Chadd (80) masterminded the Dales reply before being 7th man out. Peter Hoare (31 not out) kept his head to steer his team home, at one stage batting with his talented daughter. Bob Gittens (3-25) caused most damage to the home batsmen.
