The 37th Church Stretton and South Shropshire Arts Festival kicks off on Saturday, July 19 with a concert by the Staffordshire Brass Band at Church Stretton School at 7.30pm.

This well-known band was champion band of Great Britain (first section) and Midland Area Champions in 2002 under musical director, David Maple-stone, who is now considered one of the finest conductors of his generation.

The two-day workshop in printmaking for beginners scheduled for Saturday, July 2 - Sunday, July 27, may not now take place due to ill health.

The Festival of Arts and Crafts sees its official opening by the president, Sir Neil Cosson, chairman of English Heritage, at St Lawrence's Primary School at 7.30pm on Monday, July 21.

Moving to Tuesday, July 22 the Brindisi Piano Trio will be entertaining at Church Stretton School at 7.30pm. Tickets £8.

Ben Osborne will be presenting 'North, South, East and West' an evening of superb pictures and exciting stories from his wildlife illustrations work for the Blue Planet series for the BBC on Wednesday July 23, 7.30pm at Church Stretton School.
